Bio: Thanissara trained in Buddhist meditation centers in the UK, EU, Myanmar and India, and spent 12 years as a monastic in the Ajahn Chah Thai Forest Tradition. She has taught in-depth meditation retreats in many countries over the last 30 years. Thanissara co-founded with her husband, Kittisaro, Dharmagiri Sacred Mountain Retreat in South Africa and Sacred Mountain Sangha Non-Proft Church in California. Thanissara has an MA in Mindfulness-Based Psychotherapy from the Karuna Institute UK and is the author of several books, including Time to Stand Up: An Engaged Buddhist Manifesto for Our Earth. She has been a climate activist for many years through her writing, teachings, and direct actions on the streets and at Standing Rock. She is on the Teacher Council at Spirit Rock Meditation Center. In May '23 Thanissara is facilitating a short training: Time To Stand Up: Mindfulness in the Apocalypse.
